"My association with the KC-CWBO has been very pleasurable and encouraging. A lot of great relationships have been built by being assoicated with the organization and many of these have turned into life friendships. I will always continue to support the KC-CWBO. Thank you again."
-- Rosana Privitera Biondo, President, Mark One Electric, and Founding Member of KC-CWBO

An open letter from Denise Farris, Founding Member of the KC-CWBO:

Dear Colleague,

Although still young, the KC-CWBO organization impressed me from the start with its focus and direction. It has 3 goals, namely, to use the clout, name recognition and resources of the largest Kansas City women-owned businesses to effect changes in 3 critically important areas:

  1. Increased business opportunities for women-owned businesses in both the private and governmental sector;
  2. Fairness and standardization of WBE certification processes at the local, state and federal levels; and
  3. Increased presence of women business owners on the influential Kansas City corporate boards.

Under the joint leadership of Nancy Zurbuchen, our executive director, and Becky Wilson, co-founder and P.R. expert, this organization has garnered a mind-boggling set of accomplishments in its short existence including, but not limited to, the following:

  1. Legislative recognition by the State of Missouri permitting independent review and certification of women-owned businesses by the National Women's Business Owner Council (NWBOC);
  2. Independent recognition by the City of Kansas City, Missouri permitting independent review and certification by NWBOC (pending);
  3. Currently working with the State of Kansas, Department of Transportation regarding NWBOC certification (pending);
  4. Currently working with the State of Kansas regarding creation of an MBE/WBE Program (did you know that Kansas currently does not have one);
  5. Meetings to interface with Kansas City's largest procurement officer groups introducing them to women business owners;
  6. Regularly scheduled networking meetings for the same purpose;
  7. Detailed work on local and national level regarding training and grass-roots initiatives to break the glass ceiling in influential corporate boards; and
  8. Work at the local, state and national levels on a variety of legislative issues critically important to women-owned businesses.

This is truly one of the best organizations I have ever been affiliated with. If you have any questions about the organization, please let me know. Take a look at this organization; I am certain you will come away very impressed.

Very truly yours,

Denise E. Farris
