Nancy Zurbuchen
Founder & President - Motional Multimedia

I. PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Nancy Zurbuchen has achieved an excellent record for innovation and outstanding business performance during her 24 years as an entrepreneur. She has always remained at the forefront of computer technology, being an early adopter of this technology within her companies. Communication By Design, her first company, provided marketing and sales support, advertising, and print design. Her second company, Motional Images, was a pioneer in the area for interactive training, CD-ROM development, and 3-D animation for video. This company was sold to her largest client in 1998, where it became their in-house production department. Nancy then formed her third and current company, Motional Multimedia, which provides website and database development, consulting, and project management. Typical projects include:

  •  Website development for promotional and marketing purposes;

  • Intranet development for internal communications and document archiving;

  • Campaign development, including social marketing and grassroots campaigns;

Nancy is accomplished in strategic planning, project management, and in building collaborative work teams. Nancy’s clients include Fortune 500 companies, small businesses, start-up entrepreneurs, and non-profit entities. She has won local and national awards for her work in developing interactive programs and promotional campaigns.

Nancy Zurbuchen earned a bachelor's degree in Education in 1979 from Kansas University. More recently, Nancy again graduated from KU with a Master of Arts in Communication Studies degree in 2005. Her thesis topic and research concerned innovation and cultural transformation in small business. The topic was "An Innovation Diffusion Perspective on the Adoption of Woman Business Enterprise Certification."

Nancy is the type of person who sees a need, and instead of complaining about it, fills it. For example, Nancy has been extremely active in the area of public policy advocacy, focused on small business and particularly the niche of women business owners. She has frequently lobbied on Capitol Hill, in Jefferson City, and at the local levels. She has participated in a bi-partisan way, focused on issues important to small business. Seven years ago Nancy recognized that women business owners were not participating at higher levels because they were not making the connection between public policy and their company's bottom line; furthermore, they lacked the knowledge that they could in fact affect change. Nancy desire to help increase the economic self-determination for women inspired her to devise a series of six educational events and seminars focused solely on helping women understand the importance of public policy in their everyday business lives.
